ZAKHORIUM

Statement

Assyrian domination is well attested archaeologically, with destruction layers, inscriptions and building remains, and left a deep mark on biblical literature: much of the prophetic literature (Isaiah, Amos, Micah) comes from the Assyrian period and records fear, confusion and resentment. It interprets the conquest as divine punishment but also holds out God coming to the rescue, as in Isaiah 10:24 to 27.
