Statement

Canaan was continuously inhabited from prehistory and holds some of the oldest known settlements, such as the site of the later city of Jericho, occupied as early as 9000 BCE. The Bible acknowledges that people lived there before the Israelites, and literary and archaeological evidence confirms it.
