ZAKHORIUM

Statement

The father or grandfather was the household's ultimate authority and passed it to male heirs; a woman was under male control all her life, first her father's and, at marriage (brokered between the groom and her father), her husband's. The house was also an economic center (storage, animal stabling, pottery and textiles), where women probably played an important role, but their main role was bearing and raising children.
