ZAKHORIUM

Statement

Writing also created a way to cross the barrier between humans and gods, a function it took on in the Near East during the second millennium BCE. In Mesopotamia some texts were believed to issue from the gods' own mouths, taken down by human dictation, or to record episodes of revelation, and the notion of writing as a link between people and the divine would be vital for biblical literature.
