ZAKHORIUM

Statement

According to Josephus, the Pharisees believed in fate while leaving room for human decision, and in the survival of the soul; the Sadducees rejected belief in an immortal soul and the rule of fate; the Essenes believed in immortality and providence, without the same scope for human will. The Pharisees also followed the 'tradition of the fathers', laws not written in Scripture.
