Statement
The Passover seder, structured by the Haggadah with changes traceable to the third century CE, has many features of the Greek symposium: reclining, drinking wine, singing praises, asking questions about the food. The word afikomen comes from Greek. This does not mean that the Haggadah was deliberately patterned on the symposium.
