Statement
Palestinians and Babylonians each answered the Mishnah in their own way. The Palestinian answer is the Talmud of the Land of Israel, also called the Palestinian or Jerusalem Talmud, finished in the fourth or early fifth century; despite the name, probably not in Jerusalem but in Tiberias, in Galilee, which ended up as the seat of rabbinic activity in Palestine. The Babylonian answer is the Babylonian Talmud, finished in the sixth or seventh century.
