Statement
Zealous Zoroastrian priests and their royal allies sometimes banned Jewish practices and persecuted Jews, and Jews had to keep Hanukkah candles out of sight so as not to offend the sanctity of fire. But overall the relationship was far more cordial than under Christian Rome: interventions were sporadic, and Zoroastrians never accused the Jews of killing God or tried to convert them.
