Statement

Map 7.1 in the book traces the crusaders' route in 1096 through the Rhineland and Danube towns, distinguishing towns where they massacred Jews, those where the archbishop or clergy tried to protect them (often in vain) and those where the crusaders themselves were massacred by the Hungarians.
